Description
Your role and responsibilities
Software Developer, IBM Corporation, Herndon, Virginia (Up to 100% telecommuting permitted):
- Design, code and test features in the firm's software products so that they are: usable, reliable, resilient, and scalable.
- Resolve problems in the software development lifecycle to ensure the firm's products can be built and deployed to customers.
- Debug and resolve problems that customers experience.
- Review designs and code created by coworkers.
- Identify problems and suggest solutions.
- Understand internet standards and implement them in the software.
- Participate in communication protocols, security standards, and data formats.
- Integrate current best practices into the software development process.
- Identify shortcomings and propose improvements to the firm's software products.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior software developers.
- Create internal software tools for testing, deployment and other tasks.
- Document processes and software for use by coworkers.
- Draft user documentation and work with technical writers to ensure the accuracy of published user documentation.
- Utilize: Java SE and J2EE, RESTful web services, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, GIT, Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift Container Platform, Servlet, Spring, Springboot Frameworks, Microservices Architecture.
Required: Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Computer Applications, Information Technology or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master's degree) and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer or related. One (1) year of experience must include utilizing Java SE and J2EE, RESTful web services, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, GIT, Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift Container Platform, Servlet, Spring, Springboot Frameworks, Microservices Architecture. $175427 to $215000 per year. Full time. D160.

For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
