The role
Economist Impact Events is the leading provider of international events for senior executives seeking new insights into strategic issues. These meetings include industry conferences, bespoke events, and government roundtables held around the world.
We are recruiting a Senior Business Development Manager to lead Custom Events across the Americas region. This role will also be responsible for growing event sponsorship revenue across our Americas region.
Responsibilities
- Own a personal sales target and regional (Americas) revenue target region for bespoke events
- Grow a new client base in the region across key accounts
- Develop a renewal strategy for existing clients
- Work with the partnership sales team to maximize the cross-sell opportunities
- Liaise with marketing, programming, operations, and the Global Events team
- Manage client relationships throughout lifecycle of the project as well as work on renewal discussions
- Monitor and report on personal and regional custom event revenue in the region
- Develop an understanding of the Economist brand's positioning in the global market as well ensuring adherence to editorial guidelines
Who you are
- Track record of building sales revenue and developing new business
- Ability to work independently to create new business opportunities
- Experience in event-related sponsorship sales is essential
- Experience in working with client-focused teams in a consultative project or events environment
- Excellent people and project management skills
- Experience presenting to and negotiating with senior decision-makers of large multi-national corporations
- Ability to generate ideas and transform good ideas into practice
- A good team player with the ability to think strategically and tactically
- Flexibility to travel
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $115,000 - $140,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Rather, salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.

The majority of our roles operate on a hybrid working pattern, with 3+ days office attendance required.
