Introduction

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead with strong expertise in IDMS to drive the design, development, and support of critical mainframe-based applications. This role is responsible for providing hands-on leadership in database design, schema management, performance tuning, and application development using CA IDMS, COBOL, and JCL. The ideal candidate will lead a team of developers, ensure adherence to coding and architectural standards, and collaborate closely with business stakeholders, architects, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions. Responsibilities include troubleshooting complex production issues, guiding modernization and integration efforts, mentoring team members, and ensuring system stability, security, and compliance. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of leading enterprise-level mainframe/database initiatives are essential for success in this role.

Your role and responsibilities

A Mainframe Database Consultant/Technical Lead is responsible for supporting and developing applications that utilize network-based databases on the mainframe while also providing technical leadership and direction for the team. This includes analyzing business requirements, designing and maintaining database structures, and developing COBOL programs and JCL for batch and online processing. In the technical lead capacity, the role guides architectural decisions, establishes development standards, and ensures best practices are consistently followed across the team. The individual also oversees and participates in troubleshooting production issues, performs root cause analysis, and drives resolutions to ensure optimal system performance and data integrity.

• Mainframe Modernization Expertise: Experience with a wide range of concepts and technologies associated with Mainframe and Mainframe Modernization, including in-place modernization and migration to z-cloud.

• Technical Leadership: Experience leading and mentoring a team to implement strategy and roadmap for mainframe modernization efforts, ensuring successful project delivery.

• Cloud Migration Knowledge: Experience supporting migration of mainframe applications to other cloud platforms, providing mainframe perspective and expertise.

• Modernization Roadmap Development: Experience designing and developing comprehensive modernization roadmaps, aligning with business objectives and stakeholder expectations.

• Strategy Implementation: Experience executing and implementing modernization strategies, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations and optimal results.
