Description
OverviewOversees and maintains all facets of the golf operation. Provides professional support, direction, management, training and leadership to golf staff associates. Promotes and nurtures customer relations and enhances the quality of the golf experience.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Class A member of PGA/LPGA.
- Alcohol Awareness Training.
- Ability to read and speak English is required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with computerized POS and tee time system.
- May be required to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents, respond to inquiries or complaints, and effectively present information to management and public groups.
- May be required to calculate figures and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- May be required to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions.
- Regularly stands, walks, and sits; occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls, or crouches; frequently uses hands and arms; occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee all facets of golf operations including tournament operations and setup, rules, tee sheet activity, range operations, player service operations, and cart fleet.
- Assist in controlling expenses in relation to revenues.
- Create a customer service-oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets the needs of members and guests.
- Work closely with the Superintendent and Food and Beverage Manager to ensure timely communication and a strong working relationship.
- Prepare work schedules and assign associates areas of responsibility.
- Perform payroll tasks, adjust prior to submission, and monitor hours to maximize productivity and minimize overtime.
- Provide leadership and vision to golf staff and prepare them for career advancement.
- Assist the Director of Golf in interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, disciplining associates, and resolving complaints and problems.
- Manage department team members including Assistant and Associate Golf Professionals, Tournament Coordinator, Guest Services Attendants, and Rangers/Marshals.
- Ensure effective orientation and training for new associates and develop ongoing training programs.
- Monitor business volume forecasts and plan manpower, productivity, costs, and expenses accordingly.
- Implement and maintain excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.
- Communicate changes or new policies and procedures to the department.
- Conduct staff meetings bi-weekly to monthly.
- Maintain flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Department Manager.
- Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
- Attend staff meetings.
