Description
OverviewShady Oaks Country Club is seeking a Head Golf Professional reporting to the Director of Golf, who is energetic, highly personable, well-rounded, and consistent. This position requires a self-motivated golf professional who has a passion and willingness to go above and beyond to enhance the member experience. The position assists the Director of Golf in the management of day-to-day golf operations relating to the Golf Staff and Member experience.

Keeping our membership small, Shady Oaks has maintained a reputation of matchless quality year after year. We possess an atmosphere reminiscent of an era when courtesy, privacy, and dignity were hallmarks of distinction. The club has 450 resident members, 300 associate members, 50 junior members, and 50 non-resident members.

The Shady Oaks golf operations team consists of: Chad English, PGA is the Director of Golf. Assistant Professionals include Clay Montgomery, PGA, Corbin Renner, PGA, Kenny Davis, PGA Associate, and Brian Baker, PGA Associate. Director of Instruction Stan Utley, PGA. Teaching Professional Lindy Miller, PGA and Mike Wright, PGA serves as the Senior Golf Advisor / Emeritus.
Experience Required
- 4-Year College Degree (preferred)
- Class A PGA Member
- Leadership experience and experience working as part of a team. Someone who puts their team first and leads by example.
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, Rules of Golf, golf facility operations, and tournament operations.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, a great listener, and pursues excellence.
- Display a love of the game and a love to help others with their game.
- Maintain a credible golf game and compete in PGA Section & Chapter tournaments.
- Service and Member-focused attitude.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Golf Genius.
- Private Club experience is preferred.
- Reverence for the history and traditions of the game.
- Possess a personality trait that is consistently welcoming, reflecting favorably on Shady Oaks, whether on or off property.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, promoting, and directing golf-related activities and daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer service for members and guests.
- Lead aspects of tournament management, including the use of tournament software, preparation of rules sheets and scorecards, and organizing and conducting club tournaments, clinics, and programs.
- Provide instruction and club fittings to members.
- Play golf with members of all skill levels to encourage participation and enthusiasm for the game.
- Support the annual buying plan by analyzing previous sales and projecting future needs; inventory management for stock and special orders, including ordering, receiving, displaying merchandise, and maintaining demo accountability.
- Oversee the charging of fees for all golf-related activities and ensure compliance with all club rules, policies, and procedures.
- Manage play on the first tee and throughout the course, monitor pace of play, and interpret and enforce golf rules and regulations.
- Supervise subordinate PGA Professionals, Golf Shop Associates, and Outside Service Staff, including planning and coordinating training, professional development, and ensuring adherence to safety procedures.
- Assist with the budgeting process for the golf operation and attend management and staff meetings as scheduled.
- Perform additional lead responsibilities as requested based on operational needs.
