Your role and responsibilities
As a Technology Subject Matter Expert (SME), you serve as a deep technical authority and trusted advisor to IBM Business Partners, enabling their success through technical expertise, solution guidance, and strategic advisory support. You contribute to joint growth by influencing technical strategy, shaping solution approaches, and supporting partner enablement aligned to IBM Technology priorities.
The SME role complements partner specialists and sellers by bringing technical depth, architecture guidance, and solution credibility into partner engagements and joint planning.

Technical Subject Matter Expertise
- Act as a recognized SME for specific IBM Technology offerings, architectures, or solution domains.
- Provide expert guidance on solution design, use cases, integration patterns, and best practices for IBM technologies.
- Maintain strong technical currency and thought leadership across assigned technology areas.
- Establish credibility and trusted advisor status with Partner technical leaders, architects, and practitioners.
- Support partner technical teams in understanding, positioning, and applying IBM Technology within their solutions.
- Contribute technical insight to executive‑level discussions as needed to reinforce the value and feasibility of the solution.
- Provide technical input and validation for joint business and growth plans developed with Partners.
- Advise on technical feasibility, differentiation, and scalability of partner offerings built on IBM Technology.
- Help identify technical opportunities, gaps, and areas for innovation to accelerate partner growth.
- Support technical enablement planning and execution to ensure Partners are prepared to sell and deliver IBM Technology solutions.
- Contribute to enablement activities, including workshops, architecture reviews, technical sessions, and solution briefings.
- Collaborate with IBM technical teams to align enablement assets, tooling, and expertise to Partner needs.
- Work closely with Technology Partner Specialists (PTS, Sellers, and IBM Product Managers to support coordinated partner engagements.
- Share best practices, reusable architectures, and technical insights across the ecosystem.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex partner scenarios when required.

• Technology Industry Acumen: Experience with the technology industry, including trends, challenges, and key players, to inform joint strategic planning and business growth initiatives. • Business Growth Strategies: Experience in developing and executing business plans, with a focus on driving revenue growth and expanding market share. • IBM Ecosystem Knowledge: Experience working with IBM capabilities and resources, including knowledge of how to bring them together to support Partners' go-to-market success.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
