Requirements
The PLF is the mandatory provider of primary legal malpractice coverage for Oregon lawyers in private practice. The PLF also offers additional malpractice coverage for law firms above primary limits on an optional, underwritten basis. Beyond coverage and claims management, the PLF operates nationally recognized programs that reflect its malpractice prevention-oriented mission:
Practice Management Assistance, which provides lawyers with education, tools, and consultation designed to reduce risk, improve practice quality, and adapt to changes in the profession.
The Oregon Attorney Assistance Program (OAAP), a confidential, clinically grounded program that supports the Oregon legal community, including lawyers, judges, staff, and law students, facing mental health or substance use challenges.
