Charter Township of Oscoda

Company Overview

The Charter Township of Oscoda is a northeast Michigan Lake Huron coastal community with a rich history. For generations, families near and far travel here for rejuvenation and exciting outdoor ventures. Tourism is a significant component of the local economy. The plethora of outdoor activities include beachside/water sports on sparkling Lake Huron, exploring Manistee National Forest, viewing the Northern Lights, and witnessing the home stretch of the Au Sable River Canoe Marathon. We are a short distance from popular ski resorts, and 3 hours away from Mackinac Island.

The Township is also home of the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base. Today, the base is now utilized for a variety of purposes, including the major Kalitta Air maintenance facility that services its worldwide fleet.

A sizeable portion of the Township population includes former retired servicemen and women, as well as residents who spent their childhood years living on base. Kalitta Air continues to draw many families to our Township from all over the United States.
