Position Information

Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- CDL Class B or Higher
- Prior related truck driving work experience.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repairs
- Experience working around sanitation / waste disposal equipment and infrastructure
- Experience working with automotive fluids, parts, inventory
- Experience operating Forklift and/or pickup truck and trailer
This position reports to the Waste Reduction Supervisor. This position collects and transports materials including solid waste, recyclables, and organics, and manages the infrastructure necessary to perform these duties. Primary duties include operating solid waste vehicles including but not limited to those requiring a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), such as front-end loaders, hook lift trucks, cable hoist trucks, rear packers, pickup truck and trailer, and a variety of large vehicles and/or heavy equipment. Position will conduct routine vehicle and infrastructure inspection and maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B or higher
- Knowledge and understanding of CDL vehicles in the Waste Reduction Services Fleet, such as cable and/or hook Roll-Off trucks, Front End Loaders (FEL), Rear Loaders (REL), and pull-behind trailers.
- Good safety record and considerable knowledge of the hazards involved in equipment operation and the safety precautions necessary.
- Prior related truck driving work experience.
- Walk, stoop, bend, squat, lift, climb stairs, sit, and stand throughout an 8 hour shift.
- Lift up to 75 lbs.
- Exposure to potential workplace hazards such as sharp object or hazardous materials.
- Sitting in potentially bumpy, vibrating and/or loud vehicles.
- Driving.
