Animal Wellness Center is seeking an experienced, compassionate Medical Director to lead our integrative, multi-species practice in the heart of Crozet, Virginia. This role is ideal for a veterinarian ready to step into (or continue in) leadership—while still practicing high-quality medicine in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

As Medical Director, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping medical standards, mentoring clinicians, and partnering with operational leadership to guide the continued growth and success of the hospital.

Your Role as Medical Director

In this leadership position, you will:

• Lead, mentor, and support veterinarians and staff in medical excellence and professional development
• Establish and uphold medical protocols, standards of care, and compliance initiatives
• Partner with the Regional Operations Manager on strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and hospital growth
• Foster a positive, collaborative culture that supports quality medicine and financial success
• Lead team meetings, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Serve as a clinical leader while remaining hands-on with patient care

We provide comprehensive care, combining conventional and integrative services, including:

• Preventive and wellness care
• Internal medicine and diagnostics
• Surgery and dentistry
• Advanced anesthesia monitoring and pain management
• Rehabilitation and physical therapy (including underwater treadmill)
• Acupuncture, chiropractic care, herbal and nutritional therapies

What We're Looking For

• DVM/VMD (or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school
• 5+ years of clinical experience preferred
• Proven or emerging leadership experience
• Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills
• Commitment to high medical standards and ethical practice
• Ability to delegate, develop teams, and lead with empathy
