POSITION OVERVIEW
The Tactical Program Manager is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, promotion and expansion of NSCA’s tactical program. While a strong background in strength and conditioning is essential, this role is primarily administrative, focusing on program design, resource development, and organizational management.
Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities:
Program Advocacy and Communication
- Serve as NSCA's spokesperson at tactical events (NSCA/external) and media opportunities.
- Provide leadership and support for the Tactical Professional Development Group.
- Collaborate with the Conference Department and committees to shape NSCA tactical event content.
- Recruit and evaluate speakers and training content for NSCA Tactical Annual Training.
- Develop and maintain relationships with strategic partners and stakeholders.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evaluate tactical educational programs and resources.
- Develop strategic plans and allocate resources to support tactical initiatives.
- Analyze available metrics to identify trends and opportunities for program growth.
- Manage program documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Administer annual and project-specific budgets.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to support program goals.
- Review and manage contracts, proposals, and intellectual property policies.
- Maintain and update tactical program tools, certifications, and continuing education content
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Marketing, Business, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Current CSCS® certification
TSAC-F® certification a plus
Experience:
Direct coaching experience with tactical and/or athlete populations highly desired.
Proven experience in coaching or educational program development and execution.
Prior knowledge/experience with government-directed programs (e.g.: H2F, Preservation of the Force and Family, Force Command) a strong plus.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Presentation and media experience are essential. Proven ability to deliver educational content in a variety of mediums.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (writing, correspondence, etc.)
- Works well and communicates effectively with staff and member volunteers.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting industry and constituent data.
- Ability to review and critique contracts and proposals.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting.
- Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the tactical and sport athletes to participate in their particular sport(s)/occupation(s). Sitting, standing, lifting, and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, and moving equipment/boxes up to 50 lbs.
Position involves both inside sedentary work and outside work on the field in coaching and training situations with tactical and sport athletes. Ability to work on a computer for long periods of time.
Travel: Required
Occasional overtime may be required.
Office-based position that follows our hybrid work policy schedule which includes some days in the office and some working remotely
