Description
The office of the Chapter 13 Trustee is seeking an experienced staff attorney for full-time position. The staff attorney will assist with Court appearances; expose, investigate and pursue bankruptcy fraud, illegal activities, unethical practices and system abuse; resolve or litigate complex legal issues; analyze problem files; handle complaints against members of the bar; preside at the first meeting of creditors; conduct legal research with an emphasis on drafting legal documents, including briefs, memoranda, opinion letters, objections to confirmation, and agreed orders and other settlement documents. The staff attorney will also be required to assist the Standing Trustee, as necessary, in the performance of his duties. Applicant must be available and willing to travel.
Requirements
Applicant must be licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, be admitted and qualified to practice in the Southern District of Texas, be an active member of the bar in good standing and have at least three years each of bankruptcy and litigation experience. A thorough knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code and rules and all other applicable rules and regulations is also required.
