This position involves contributing to HashiCorp's offerings, now part of IBM, which empower organizations to automate and secure multi-cloud and hybrid environments. You will join a team managing the lifecycle of infrastructure and security, enhancing IBM's cloud solutions to ensure enterprises achieve efficiency, security, and scalability in their cloud journey.
Your role and responsibilities
As the Product Management Leader for Infrastructure Self-Service & Developer Experience you will be a strategic leader responsible for defining, developing, and executing the product strategy that enables application developers to provision infrastructure easily, securely, and at scale. This role requires managing a team of Product Managers and driving the unification of core Infrastructure Lifecycle Management (ILM) products—specifically Terraform, Waypoint, and Packer—to deliver a seamless self-service platform. The central mission is to empower platform teams to establish "golden patterns" and simplify application deployment workflows, thereby providing a self-service experience for application developers.
As part of this role, you will manage and mentor a team of PMs dedicated to various facets of the self-service portfolio, ensuring alignment with the overall infrastructure products like Terraform, Waypoint, and Packer. We are looking for candidates who are eager to solve complex product management problems and have a passion for cloud infrastructure. We'd love to connect.
What you'll do
- Manage and mentor a team of PMs working on infrastructure products like Waypoint, Packer, and Terraform.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional leaders in Engineering, Design, Product Marketing, and Sales to ensure high-priority initiatives are delivered
- Prioritize the product roadmap by taking feedback from customers, ecosystem partners, engineering, marketing, and internal vision.
- Conduct user research and write Press Release/Frequently Asked Questions (PRFAQs), Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) to distill the research into requirements for engineering to deliver.
- Communicate product status to all partners and stakeholders. Keep sales and marketing updated on feature releases and keep engineering informed on feature requests
- Help with sales and marketing collateral to educate on the product story and features (Website copy, whitepapers, sales decks, FAQs, etc)
- Leaders are expected to spend time with their teams and clients and therefore, are generally expected to be in the workplace a minimum of three days a week subject to business needs.
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- 5+ years of product management experience with developer products
- 2+ years of experience in a direct people management role for managing product management teams delivering enterprise software products.
- 1+ years of experience with Terraform and one or more large cloud providers
- Familiarity with coding practices in modern programming languages like Java, Golang, Node, Ruby etc.
- Experience or deep understanding of the complexity associated with working with multi-cloud environments (CSPs) and various IT vendors.
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Proven ability to deliver world-class enterprise products and tools.
- Experience or familiarity with internal developer platforms (IDP), service catalogs, and continuous delivery concepts.
- Demonstrated experience managing product management teams, defining roadmaps, and delivering complex enterprise software products.
- Deep expertise in the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) domain, preferably with Terraform, and a strong understanding of the "Platform Engineer" and "Application Developer" personas.
- Strong user and market research skills
- Ability to organize multiple stakeholders towards a common goal
- Analytical with the ability to prioritize and make tradeoffs
- Strong technical acumen, with a solid understanding of infrastructure, cloud tools, and developer tooling
- Comfortable talking to developers and platform engineers to work on product discovery
