This technical, hands-on, rolewill be serving as a Technology Engineer defining and implementing security policies, controls, solutions, and automation in Nationwide AWS/K8s cloud environments.

You will promote aDevSecOpsculture for CSE and application development teams with special focus on security controls (IAM, security compliance, vulnerability scanning). Design, build, and/or deploy tools and reports that provide visibility into cloud accounts, instances, and services is a key responsibility, as is to implement and support data protection and encryption strategies for cloud services, products, and data. We are looking for a Cloud Security Engineer with strong software engineering skills, including hands-on experience designing and building APIs, to help enable secure, scalable cloud platforms.

You will design and operate security controls across cloud environments while also building security-facing APIs and services that integrate with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and internal developer tooling.

Highly Preferred Skills:

• Strong programming skills in Python for automation and backend development
  
• Hands-on experience designing and building APIs (REST or similar) in production environments
  
• Experience with infrastructure as code (CloudFormation/CDK/Helm)
  
• Experience in CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices and deploying to AWS/K8s platform using GH Action/Harness
  
• Experience securing workloads in AWS/K8s

Familiarity with:

• API authentication and authorization patterns
  
• Secure service-to-service communication
  
• Solid understanding of security fundamentals (least privilege, defense in depth, zero trust)
  
• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated collaboration experience
  
• Demonstrated ability to define, build and mature processes and metrics
  
• Listening, consulting, and documentation skills

The Technology Engineer delivers standard and custom supportable technology products based on Nationwide’s architectural standards, technology roadmaps, industry trends and business requirements. You’ll be focused on collaboration, data, systems, storage, middleware, network, security and contact center technology products. You’re also accountable for the operational aspects and management for the above products in accordance with the business requirements and defined service level agreements (SLAs).

Key Responsibilities:

• Creates and implements standard builds/templates for all technology platforms.
  
• Drives requirements to meet current and future needs, tracks and reports capacity postures.
  
• Analyzes reports and delivery recommendations to remediate capacity issues.
  
• Implements capacity enhancements.
  
• Designsstandardandcustomtechnologysolutionsfor businesspartnerprojects, including pre-production testing, performance tuning, handoffs and certification.
  
• Delivers technology/product optimization, migrations and management, including technology/product design, planning, power and environmental management.
  
• Collaborateswithotherstodevelopmeaningfulmetricsthatdrivefact-baseddecisionson a givenproduct/environment/solution.
  
• Conducts proactive system maintenance, disaster recovery planning, data backup and recovery as well as inventory, configuration and utility product management.
  
• Executes production engineering processes, incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, change management, release management and knowledge management.
  
• Provides production support for all technology platforms.
  
• Provides oversight for technical labs and development environments.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director Technology Engineering Manager/Technology Product Manager.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems or a related field is preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Technology certifications or designation are not required, but encouraged (i.e.: AWS, Azure, scripting and development languages, delivery methods, security).

Experience: Four yearsof experience withmoderatelycomplexintegrated solutions and an ability todevelop andmodify existing solutions for specialized needs. Experience with automation of solution configurations deployment and with system management processes and tools. Experience with concepts and solutions:IaaS, PaaS, SaaSand Package Solutions.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong communication skills, knowledge of planning, management and execution of Accelerated Solutions Deliver framework, Information Security acumen. Influencing, negotiating and priority setting is needed. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge is a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
