AccuWeather’s Social Media Team is seeking a Social Media Intern for Summer 2026. Join us in an exciting role where you'll assist in managing and executing creative social media strategies across multiple platforms. Collaborate closely with our social media team to craft captivating content, from informative videos to eye-catching graphics, all while educating and entertaining our audience about all things weather-related. Stay on top of social media trends, analyze data, and contribute to engaging social media campaigns. Show off your talent for finding amazing user-generated content across platforms, engaging with followers, and fostering a lively online community centered around weather discussions. This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience in social media management and digital content creation while working within a dynamic and fast-paced media environment.
This paid internship spans 5 months and requires a commitment of approximately 20 hours per week. Morning and daytime availability is preferred, though some evening hours may be accommodated.
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sourcing, finding UGC (User-Generated Content) and getting usage permission from owners.
- Pitching daily weather-related content ideas for social media posts.
- Coordinating multiple sources, feeds and personnel contributing to our Social channels.
- Monitoring all Social Networks for testimonials, questions, comments, and user-generated content.
- Engaging with those users and interacting with appropriate internal departments for resolution.
- Analyzing data about AccuWeather and its competitors from a variety of internal and external Social Media Analytics tools.
- Researching changes to new and existing Social Networks via industry blogs and news and online webinars.
- Creating trend reports of the most-talked-about weather-related topics and culturally relevant conversations.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Pursuing a 4-year Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing or a related field that requires experience in writing.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.
- Basic image editing knowledge.
- Must be able to develop an understanding of basic scientific and meteorological concepts, in order to explain them to our audience.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, team-oriented and work well under pressure.
- Must have excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
