Your role and responsibilities
Senior UX Designer, IBM Corporation, Austin, TX (Up to 40% telecommuting permitted):
- Lead user-centered design strategy using iterative frameworks and continuous validation, applying Enterprise Design Thinking to cloud-native technologies within IBM Cloud Platform Services.
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and scenario mapping to inform design decisions and enhance product usability and accessibility.
- Produce wireframes, prototypes, and design specifications aligned with internal Design Language and Carbon Design System, ensuring consistency across IBM Cloud solutions.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure successful design implementation, leveraging CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and Infrastructure as code tools.
- Mentor junior designers and provide guidance during design critiques, fostering UX design excellence and evangelism across enterprise teams.
- Facilitate Design Thinking workshops with internal and external stakeholders to resolve conflicts, gather consensus, and align on strategic goals.
- Contribute to internal Pattern Asset Library and evolve design systems to support scalable, accessible, and standardized enterprise applications.
- Apply specialized knowledge of cloud-native product lifecycle management, including deployment, monitoring, and scaling using observability and logging tools.
- Utilize: IBM Carbon Design System, Front-End Framework, Enterprise Design Thinking, GitHub, Jenkins, Terraform, CloudFormation, IBM Cloud, AWS, Continuous Deployment (CD) toolchains, IBM Watson Assistant.
Required: Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Cognitive Science or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master's degree) and one (1) year of experience as an Advisory Designer or related. One (1) year of experience must include utilizing IBM Carbon Design System, Front-End Framework, Enterprise Design Thinking, GitHub, Jenkins, Terraform, CloudFormation, IBM Cloud, AWS, Continuous Deployment (CD) toolchains, IBM Watson Assistant. $159466 to $209466 per year.
