Position: Senior Curator
Reports to: Chief Curator of Art and Audience Engagement
Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt
Starting Salary: $60,164

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Mobile Museum of Art seeks a dynamic and experienced museum professional to lead the development and implementation of exhibitions, artist collaborations, and community engagement initiatives. This role involves curating innovative exhibitions, interpreting the museum’s collection, and fostering meaningful connections between art, artists, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

        Develop and present exhibitions, artist installations, and community-based art initiatives.

        Collaborate with curatorial and education teams to align projects with the museum’s mission.

        Research trends in visual arts and contribute to publications and public programs.

        Support acquisitions and interpretive strategies for the permanent collection.

        Assist in supervising curatorial and engagement staff and training museum personnel.

        Represent the museum at professional conferences and public events.

Qualifications:

        Master’s degree in Art History, Fine Art, Museum Studies, Arts Management, or related field.

        Minimum of 3 years of curatorial or project management experience in a museum setting.

        Strong knowledge of museum best practices, interpretive writing, and audience engagement.

        Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

        Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

        Valid driver’s license required.
