Overnight Assistant Camp Director (Seasonal)

Looking for a summer role where you can lead, make an impact, and work outdoors? The Assistant Camp Director helps oversee daily camp operations, supports staff and campers, and steps into a leadership role to ensure a safe, inclusive, and fun camp experience at our overnight camp in beautiful Julian, California.

What You’ll Do:

• Support daily camp operations, schedules, activities, and special events
• Cosupervise camp staff and campers; provide guidance and mentorship
• Help plan and deliver staff training
• Communicate with parents/guardians and handle concerns professionally
• Ensure health, safety, emergency, and ACA standards are followed
• Assist with camp budgeting and logistics
• Step in as a counselor or activity specialist as needed
• Actively participate in camp life and events

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

• At least 21 years old
• Experience in a youth camp, school, or recreation setting (leadership experience preferred)
• Ability to work the full camp season, attend trainings, and live onsite
• CPR/First Aid certification (required)
• Strong communication, organization, and conflictresolution skills
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather; able to walk uneven terrain and lift up to 25 lbs
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Nice to Have:

• Lifeguard, archery, or challenge course certification

• Pay Range:  $145.00 - $154.00/day, DOE
