KINESIOLOGY (BL-KINE-IUBLA)Job Summary
The Research Analyst position is in the Department of Kinesiology within the Indiana University (IU) School of Public Health-Bloomington under the direction of Zac Schlader. The overall goal of this project is to understand and inform the identification of solutions that alleviate the risk of subclinical acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease of nontraditional causes, common and growing health risks caused by occupational heat stress. The Research Analyst plays a coordinating role in the project, including organizing travel, leading field-based data collection activities, and performing sample and data management, and they will also be exposed to other studies in the laboratory, which will involve aspects of environmental, cardiovascular and exercise physiology.
General Responsibilities
- Performs complex and intricate laboratory experiments while following research techniques and procedures.
- Develops procedures and protocols in collaboration with leadership.
- Prepares research reports or analyses for projects.
- Maintains safety records and ensures safety/compliance procedures and protocols are followed.
- Provides guidance and support to junior-level staff in laboratory operations.
- May develop, prepare, and coordinate grant applications and grant-related activities to obtain funding for research projects and related work.
Qualifications

EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in exercise science, kinesiology, integrative physiology, environmental and occupational health, public health, or related field)
- Master's degree in related field
Required
- 3 years related work experience
- Human subjects research experience

Working Conditions / Demands
The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Travel to data collection sites within the United States is expected.
Additional Information
This position is grant funded for a minimum of 1 year, with expected annual renewals for up to 3 additional years based on performance and funding.
