We are seeking a regional field director who will work under the direction of the Field Director to manage a team of 10+ staff in the 2026 election. This position will take ownership over the following buckets of work:
- Directly manages daily activities of canvassers to build out large-scale voter engagement programs including voter registration and doors in assigned turf.
- Ensures their office hits its hiring, onboarding, voter registration, doors, and reporting goals.
- Holds daily launch and debriefs with canvassers to address issue education, best practices, quality control, and other topics.
- Trains, holds-accountable and provides ongoing motivation and support to canvass leads, canvassers, and the office manager. Works in the field with canvassers and teams as necessary.
- Coaches canvassers to have effective conversations with targets and ensures best practices are being used.
- Ability to break down office goals by canvasser to set clear expectations for assigned work.
- Ability to view reports such as progress to goal, IDs, and contact rates to make adjustments to canvasser teams. Has the acumen to understand what adjustments should be made ASAP and what needs to be discussed with the Field Director.
- Regular reports to Field Director to assess progress-to-goal and triage issues in the field.
- Works in deep collaboration with the quality control team to ensure that issues are addressed immediately with voter registration, takes the appropriate action to remedy a situation and reports up to the Field Director ASAP.
- Ensures that a thorough quality control process for voter registration is being adhered to in order to prevent voter registration fraud.
- Reviews reporting and identifies trends and issues of concern with individual canvassers. Works to triage issues while also reporting up to the Regional Field Director issues and possible solutions.
- Works as directed by the Field Director to adjust and execute necessary training and training adjustments. Makes recommendations for training specific to the region.
- Ensures there is statewide adherence to training standards, script usage, script approvals, script completion, reporting, and a clear field feedback loop.
- Works in the field with canvassers and teams as necessary to ensure compliance.
- Maintains a healthy and safe working environment for all staff.
- Builds a working relationship with the appropriate people at the County Board of Elections.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong field management skills and the ability to hold teams accountable for reaching key benchmarks. Ability to speak about campaign issues and strategy. Organize effective team meetings that set clear standards around a culture of accountability and competition while creating a healthy work culture.
The candidate should have experience with canvassing, managing hourly staff, experience working in the nonprofit and/or campaign setting, and demonstrated professionalism and tact in communications with a diversity of individuals. Strong organizational and time management skills, acute attention to detail and ability to work well with others on the campaign team is a must. This position can be based in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Akron, or Dayton Ohio.
The Regional Field Director has:
- 1 to 3 years of direct field experience.
- The ability to be ready for the unexpected and willing to adapt to last-minute changes.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, VAN, MiniVAN, Google Docs, and Google Chrome/Firefox.

Position Duties:
- Assist with hiring, training and managing of canvassers in assigned turf.
- Manages daily launches, trainings, and debriefs in office.
- Field spot checks and field audits for quality control of canvassing teams.
- Oversees proper completion of HR paperwork for canvassers.

Position Details The Regional Field Director is a temporary, full-time salaried position. Benefits include health/dental insurance, vacation, and retirement match after one continuous year of employment. Prior to starting the position, the Regional Field Director must reside in Akron, Dayton, Columbus, Cleveland, or Cincinnati Ohio, possess a cell phone, a driver’s license, and have access to a reliable insured automobile.
Extensive travel is required. Weekend and evening hours will be required. Work-related expenses are reimbursed according to policy. Physical requirements include frequent standing, canvassing for long periods of time, the ability to sit in meetings, and lift moderate weight for supplies. The ability to thrive under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and complete projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
Salary This position offers a highly competitive salary, based on experience. Salary Range for this position will be $55,000-$62,000.
