Description
Are you ready for the best summer of your life? Spending the summer at Camp Paivika in the beautiful San Bernardino National Forest, working and playing with amazing campers and co-workers is guaranteed to change your life. As a Program Leader you will work with the Program Team to plan and facilitate fun and exciting activities for campers with various physical and/or developmental disabilities. Campers range in age from children through adults and disabilities may be mild to profound. You will plan activities that are adapted to the various ability levels of all campers. As part of the Program Team you will also plan and facilitate the evening programs and special all camp events. Throughout the 5-night sessions you will live in the same cabin with and assist the counselors with camper's daily personal care.
Program Leader positions include Nature Studies. We are looking for individuals that have experience in these areas and who have had experience working with people with disabilities.
The camp season begins June 19th with staff training and the summer program ends on August 21. This is an amazing opportunity for people who are interested in pursuing a related field of study - for people who love sharing the outdoors with others - for people who love to play - for people who just love to have a great time and make a difference at the same time!
Requirements
18 years of age or older.
Must pass LiveScan background check, pre-employment physical exam and drug screen.
Vaccinations are encouraged, due to communal living
Must be able to reside on site when camp is in session.
Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and perform the physically rigorous daily care tasks for individuals with severe physical disabilities.
Demonstrated experience in the program area that you are applying for.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly desired but more important is a willingness to learn with an energetic and positive approach.
