in the role of Power Generation Safety Technician.
The City of Roseville is seeking a Power Generation Safety Technician to plan, organize, and implement a comprehensive safety and training program for the Roseville Electric Utility's generation facilities. This role involves providing technical expertise in simple and combined cycle power plant operations, conducting regular safety inspections, and ensuring strict compliance with Cal/OSHA regulations, including lockout-tagout (LOTO) programs and Hazardous Material Business Plans. A core component of the position is the coordination of both safety and technical training, where you will develop and deliver instruction, manage external training vendors, and maintain detailed databases to track employee qualifications and certifications.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of increasingly responsible experience in power plant operations or maintenance, combined with formalized technical training and a deep understanding of industrial hazards like confined spaces and fall protection. Beyond field oversight and emergency preparedness coordination, the technician is responsible for analyzing safety indicators, investigating incidents, and fostering a proactive safety culture through clear communication and the delivery of formal training presentations.
The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, occasional evening and weekend work may be required. A flex schedule may be available.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Experience:
Five years of increasingly responsible experience in the operations and maintenance of a power plant similar to that of a Power Plant Operator Technician II, Instrument and Control Technician, Power Plant Mechanic, or Power Plant Engineer II with the City of Roseville.
AND
Training:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and completion of a formalized training relevant to power plant operations.
License and Certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license prior to the date of appointment.
