Description
The Village of Willowbrook is seeking candidates for a Maintenance Technician position within the Village’s Public Works Department. This is a full-time position that performs activities as they relate to the operations of the Public Works Department.
Including, but not limited to: The position performs the maintenance and repairs to Village water and storm sewer systems, roads, multi-use pathways, facilities, landscaping, forestry, parks and recreational facilities, and equipment. Work includes operating a wide variety of light and heavy equipment, hand and power tools, the use of technology including computers, spreadsheets, email, GIS mapping, tablets, and physical labor working in inclement weather conditions as necessary.
The successful candidate will assist all Public Works operations as necessary and demonstrate the ability to operate specialized motor vehicles and equipment. Additional work will include snow removal operations, must be willing and available to be on-call and respond to after-hours callbacks and emergency situations as necessary.
All functions of this position must perform work in accordance with the Village's safety policies and procedures.
Qualified applicants should be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and have excellent customer service skills when interacting with the public. Position requires problem solving skills, good judgment and outstanding organizational and time management skills. Candidates should be detail oriented with multi-tasking capabilities to work in a fast-paced environment.
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Weekend and/or night hours will be required as circumstances dictate for emergency work and snow removal operations. Must be willing and available to be on-call and respond to after-hours callbacks and emergency situations as necessary.
The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $87,000 (DOQ). This position is classified as a full-time, non-exempt, union position. The Village provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and life insurance, Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Pension, retirement plans, paid sick, vacation, holiday, and more.
Employment is contingent upon successfully passing an employee reference check, criminal background check, and DOT drug screening.
This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local 700.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Municipal experience is preferred. Class C Water Operator, Arborist, Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI), or other high level certifications are desirable. Candidates must have a valid Illinois Class B CDL driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 180 days of employment.
