Description
The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO), located in Cambridge, MA, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to collaborate with engineering staff in the design, assembly, and integration of optical instruments for both ground- and space-based astrophysical research. From world-wide telescope arrays that can image black holes to space missions studying solar emissions, this is truly a fantastic place to work – full of opportunities and challenges.
This position requires CNC machining expertise, including proficiency in multi-axis CNC operation. The selected candidate will also receive training in quality assurance (QA) and mechanical assembly procedures for both flight and ground-based missions.
