Description
The Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences (PES) at Clemson University invites applications for a Lecturer position to begin July 2026. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment focused on undergraduate instruction and service with significant opportunities for leadership in experiential learning, curriculum innovation, and student success. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of educators dedicated to excellence in teaching, student engagement, and experiential learning in horticulture while advancing Clemson Elevate’s strategic pillar of delivering the No. 1 student experience. This position is integral to the majors the department serves, helping prepare graduates to address emerging challenges in sustainable horticulture, environmental stewardship, and the green industry. Responsibilities Provide high-impact undergraduate instruction in courses such as: our introductory course, landscape design, and other horticulture or plant science courses aligned with the candidate’s expertise and departmental needs. Design and deliver engaging, student-centered courses that use evidence-based, active-learning strategies that incorporate field and lab-based experiences and real-world problem-solving. Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement of course offerings. Collaborate with faculty, Extension, industry, and community partners to expand experiential, interdisciplinary, and career-connected learning opportunities for students.
Requirements
Qualifications Required: Master’s degree in Horticulture or a closely related field. Preferred: Ph.D. in Horticulture or a closely related field with experience in teaching, mentoring, or professional practice.
