- INSTALLATION AND REPAIR TECHNICIAN
Description
This is a key position in maintaining Whidbey Telecoms track record of excellent customer service. Responsibilities include the installation and maintenance of our telecommunication network and customer premise equipment.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT NECESSARILY BE LIMITED TO:
- The installation of optical fiber and copper twisted pair drop cables, test access points, network interface devices, and initial wiring or rewiring of optical fiber-based and copper twisted pair-based subscriber systems.
- Become familiar with all facilities of the local exchange distribution network.
- The installation and maintenance of residential and business managed WiFi services.
- Splicing of copper twisted pair and optical fiber buried cabling both in the outside plant and on customer premises.
- Utilizing tools and test equipment according to best practices for installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Customer relations for business and residential customers.
- Work with other teams and departments to accomplish tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years minimum experience as an installation & repair technician or other qualifying equivalent experience, preferred.
- Ability to maintain an excellent attendance record.
- Ability to work overtime as required and travel to job and training sites as required.
- Must be available to work on-call and respond to call outs.
- Ability to perform assigned work with minimal supervision.
- Possess a Passport or Enhanced Driver’s license or the ability to acquire one for travel across the US/Canada border to work in Pt. Roberts as needed.
- Possess strong dexterity and hand-eye coordination; ability to distinguish colors.
- Ability to be a Team player.
- Ability to respond and interact in a positive manner to customer issues.
- Ability to communicate (speaking and writing) in English in a clear and easily understood manner.
- Basic computer and smartphone/tablet skills.
- Knowledge of basic networking principles.
- The physical ability to work in confined spaces such as crawl spaces and attics, to climb ladders (including 28-foot ladders for installing aerial drops), and to lift up to 60 pounds is required.

Valid WA State driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Must be eligible to work in the USA.
Salary range -
I &R Tech - $25.00 - 42.00 per hour
Salary ranges are based on available market data for the business sector and geographic location.
