Description

Essential duties:
1. Oversee all horse-related programs, lessons, trail rides, and educational activities for campers aged 6–17.
2. Ensure that all horsemanship activities uphold the values of OLV Charities and Camp Turner. 
3. Oversee performance, provide coaching, and evaluate staff to ensure high-quality instruction and adherence to safety practices.
4. Lead or coordinate all training related to horsemanship, safety, risk management, and emergency procedures.
5. Teach or supervise riding lessons, grooming, tacking, horse handling, and basic equine science. 
6. Oversee daily horse care/health, including feeding, watering, grooming, and stall maintenance.
7. Manage the upkeep, cleaning, and safe operation of all horse-related equipment, tack, and facilities.
8. Ensure proper storage, security, and maintenance of tools and supplies.
9. Train staff in emergency procedures and ensure immediate and accurate reporting of incidents and accidents. 
10. Engage with campers during recreational activities, skits, songs, and other planned events as part of the camp community. 
11. Live in a cabin with campers and supervise children in activities of daily living.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. 18 years of age required. 
2. High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in equine science, outdoor education, recreation, or related field preferred.
3. Extensive experience teaching horsemanship and caring for horses and safety practices required. 
4. Prior supervisory or leadership experience in an equestrian or camp setting preferred.
5. Experience working with children ages 6–17 required. 
6. Must be willing to live on-site for the summer season with room and board provided.
