Job Description

Our well-established, family-owned funeral home is seeking a Funeral Director/Embalmer Apprentice to join our growing team! Our funeral directors and apprentices serve families at both of our beautiful locations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment.
We provide expertise in all areas of funeral service and strive to exceed every family’s expectation following the loss of a loved one.

Requirements

Job Responsibilities
– Perform on-call responsibilities on a rotating schedule and arrange transportation of the deceased into the care of the funeral home.
– Arrange and conduct funeral services including visitations, burials, cremation ceremonies, memorial services, etc. in a professional, organized, and caring manner.
– Prepare decedents for viewing, including embalming, dressing, casketing, and applying cosmetics.
– Supervise / direct funeral services including setting up the chapel to meet each family’s standards, ushering, driving funeral vehicles, leading chapel/graveside services and delivering flowers and other family items as needed.
– Administrative tasks including typing and submitting obituaries, use of basic office equipment, making and returning phone calls in a timely manner.
– Care for each decedent in a respectful and dignified manner
– Accurately prepare, handle, and complete legal documents related to services, cremation, and payment.
– Handle day-to-day operations of the crematory.

Minimum Requirements
– Completion of a mortuary science program at an accredited technical school or mortuary college
– Valid Illinois Funeral Director & Embalmer license or Apprentice License (or ability to obtain one)
