The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of the following location(s):

Des Moines: 1100 Locust St. Des Moines, IA
Work schedule: 2 days in office, 3 days remote.
Job Description Summary

As a Director, you'll contribute to the effective management of Nationwide's portfolio investment through results, people and personal performance categories. We'll count on you to provide financial, informational, administrative, advisory and analytical services to senior leaders relative to the coordination and management of the transformation project/program portfolio. You'll develop and implement functional portfolio performance measures, track, analyze and communicate portfolio risk and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Pushes for answers to solve for the root cause of a problem; weighs relevance and accuracy of information while challenging the team to seek out new sources of information to use in decision-making.
- Shows ability to generate and evaluate alternatives to get to a recommended solution for the organization; offers suggestions to senior leaders that highlight new methods for approaching problems.
- Shows consideration for future consequences and trends; demonstrates forward thinking point of view in discussions.
- Keeps informed of new methods and technologies that will impact and improve the work of the team; uses new techniques/tools to uplift the team's skills.
- Navigates change effectively and makes logical recommendations to tackle problems even with partial or imperfect information; maintains productivity and poise even during times of uncertainty.
- Works to build knowledge of organizational depth (understanding where specialized talent exists) and breadth (able to work with teams with varied strengths and skillsets across the organization) to drive outstanding results.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Vice President/Officer. Manages at team of four or more financial professionals.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in finance, economics, accounting or statistics; advanced degree in financial field desired. Technical insurance coursework desirable.
License/Certification/Designation: CPA preferred.
Experience: Typically, ten or more years of relevant experience related to accounting, finance, insurance or administrative business functions, with at least five years of management level experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis, financial statement preparation, budgeting and financial analysis techniques, and related business operations. Facility with GAAP and statutory accounting practices and insurance/financial service business requirements. Thorough knowledge of administrative policies and procedures required.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Note on Compensation for Part-Time Roles: Please be aware that the salary ranges listed below reflect full-time compensation. Actual compensation may be prorated based on the number of hours worked relative to a full-time schedule.
The national salary range for Financial Business Director : $122,000.00-$214,000.00
The expected starting salary range for Financial Business Director : $122,000.00 - $182,000.00
