Description
The Department of Medicine, the Division of Classical Hematology, and the Vascular Medicine Institute at the University of Pittsburgh, are seeking a basic or translational scientist at the Associate Professor level in the tenure stream. The successful candidate will address fundamental questions in broad areas such as blood flow regulation, vascular function, metabolism, and hemostasis/thrombosis, particularly as they relate to pulmonary and systemic vascular disease, hemophilia, transfusion medicine, sickle cell disease, and heart disease. Candidates should excel in mechanistic research, interdisciplinary collaboration, innovative big-data approaches, and/or therapeutic development.
Qualified applicants must hold a PhD in Biology, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field, and must have active R01 or equivalent funding or demonstrate the ability to compete successfully for such support. Competitive start-up resources and compensation will be provided commensurate with experience.
Academic appointment, tenure status, and salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
Applicants for Associate Professor in the tenure stream, should have 5 or more years of experience in related scientific research, have independent, external research funding and a substantial record of peer-reviewed publications, have significant teaching experience, demonstrate the capacity for sustained, impactful, and independent scholarly contributions, and leadership.
