- Equity Research Analyst (Sparta, NJ office)
Description
We are seeking an Equity Research Analyst to join our Investment Team in our Sparta, NJ office. This individual will play a meaningful role in supporting the firm’s mission to create and preserve wealth for our clients through disciplined, fundamental investment research.
This is a hands-on, senior analytical role well suited for someone with 3–5 years of direct equity research experience, strong financial modeling and valuation skills, and a genuine interest in long-term investing. The analyst will work closely with portfolio managers, contribute directly to investment discussions, and provide research that informs portfolio decisions.
The role includes primary responsibility for equity research coverage, ongoing portfolio support, interaction with company management teams and sell-side analysts, and participation in the continuous improvement of internal research processes, including the use of AI-enabled research tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead analytical coverage of existing portfolio holdings across multiple sectors
- Conduct in-depth fundamental analysis and build, maintain, and refine financial models and valuation frameworks
- Perform comprehensive due diligence on prospective investments, including competitive and risk analysis.
- Monitor company-specific, industry, and macroeconomic developments and provide timely insights to portfolio managers
- Attend research conferences, corporate access events, and management meetings.
- Develop and maintain relationships with sell-side analysts and company investor relations teams
- Prepare research briefs, earnings summaries, and quarterly updates for portfolio managers.
- Maintain research files, investment theses, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of investment commentaries and other client-facing communications.
- Contribute to improving research workflows, including automation and AI-enabled tools.
- Participate in regular Investment Team meetings and contribute research insights.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of equity research experience (buy-side or sell-side)
- CFA Charterholder or active CFA candidate, with meaningful progress toward completion of the program, strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage equity research coverage
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present research to senior investment professionals
- High level of technical proficiency, including Bloomberg, Excel, and research databases (Python/R and AI tools a plus)
- Strong professional judgment, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality
- Ability to work on-site in Sparta, NJ. Local candidates are highly preferred.
