Description
Missouri Valley College invites applications for Assistant Professor and Director of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program in the School of Nursing & Health Sciences. This position is a full-time, 12-month, renewable, and non-tenure track appointment. The School of Nursing & Health Sciences is home to MVC Nursing, Exercise Science, and Counseling programs.
Summary
In support of the mission, vision, values, and goals of the college, the Director of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program provides vision, leadership, management, direction, strategic planning, assessment, and evaluation for the program. The Program Director is responsible for full program oversight, including accreditation and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
Possess a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree, a master’s degree is preferred; Possess the appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more of the concentration(s) offered; Have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques; and have a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field. Documentation of experience in educational theories and techniques may include completed college courses, seminars, or in-service sessions on topics including, but not limited to, learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology, or assessment techniques.
Skills and Competencies
Ability to learn and adapt to changing college needs while maintaining up-to-date skills.
Advanced organization, prioritization, and project management skills required.
Experience with Google Workspace preferred; working knowledge of student databases and information systems preferred.
Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally, confidentially, and courteously with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, including board members, college administration, faculty/staff, students, families, government officials, and the general public.
Ability to move from building to building on campus and to travel to off-campus locations related to school business.
Collegiality, professionalism, and a strong commitment to academic excellence and the institution’s mission are essential qualifications.

Requirements
The program director is responsible for:
the structure and daily operation of the program; the organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and effectiveness of program curricula; and ensuring the effectiveness of all clinical affiliates is maintained.
Ensuring the effectiveness of clinical affiliates may be demonstrated through overseeing, monitoring, and communicating with the Clinical Coordinator regarding student clinical rotations, the number of cases, and completion of required competencies by all students.
Additional Responsibilities
Developing, implementing, and revising, the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program’s master plan on education to assure compliance with accrediting bodies.
Preparing, implementing and monitoring the budget.
Monitoring and making evidence based recommendations for the educational materials and equipment needed for the program.
Collaborating with faculty to assure the needs of students and the program are being met.
Working with all disciplines to create and maintain a positive learning environment.
Collaborating with College administration in the interviewing, selection, and hiring of new faculty, staff, and advisors.
Prepare a mentoring program for new faculty members.
Recruiting prospective students; retaining current students.
Participating in counseling and advising of prospective and current students.
Representing the college to affiliates and community stakeholders.
Preparing annual reports in a timely manner to the dean and other agencies if indicated.
Maintaining professional competency through educational opportunities.
Coordinating Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Advisory Board meeting as necessary to meet and maintain accreditation.
Other duties as assigned.
