This individual will lead efforts supporting a wide range of enterprise data and analytics tools in the Advanced Analytics space, including Model Factory, and Aporia.
The demonstrated ability to quickly embed with the integrated business / technology team, to establish strong trusted working relationships and to manage multiple complex workstreams are critical to success in this role. The role requires the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across the enterprise with business and technology stakeholders and impacted teams. This complex and challenging environment demands a confident leader who can quickly understand where to focus to drive this team forward to achieve strategic and tactical outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Strong Project Management Foundation: Experience managing complex information technology efforts, where multiple business and technology teams are involved. Solid grounding in waterfall and agile methodologies and ability to operate within a hybrid environment where variations of these and other methodologies are employed.
- Mastery of Nationwide Project / Portfolio / Financial tools and processes: Demonstrated mastery in the use of Planview and significant experience in management of all aspects of financial management of projects, including the use of DEA, actual labor file data (SCM Reporting), and agile costing. Experience leveraging tools to manage demand / capacity and an understanding of how project allocations impact demand / capacity is important in the role.
- Executive Presence: The ability to inspire confidence and command respect through a combination of demeanor, communication skills, and demonstrated competence in role-specific activities.
- Strategic Thinking: The ideal candidate must be able to understand the broader business context that projects are supporting and must understand how project objectives align with organizational priorities.
- Relationship Building Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills are critical. This ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly establish strong, trusted working relationships.
- Effective Communication: The candidate must be able to articulate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Collaboration: The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the SEPM, Agile Leader and Product Owner roles. Demonstrated experience collaborating in a similar environment with these or similar roles is highly desirable.
- Vendor Management: The ideal candidate will have experience managing vendor work in this space, including relationship and performance management and risk and cost management for the vendor effort.
- Motivated Driver / Self-Starter: this position requires the candidate to be a self-starter, to understand where to focus given many complex project efforts in flight at any given time and to be able to drive efforts through to completion.
- Stakeholder Management: the ideal candidate will engage with stakeholders effectively, communicate project progress, address concerns, and ensure alignment with business goals. An understanding of how to accomplish delivery in a complex, matrixed corporate environment is critical.
- Tech Savviness: As technology plays a significant role, being comfortable with digital tools and software is crucial. The ideal candidate will streamline processes and use technology efficiently. A mastery of the technology required to engage with teams and individuals remotely is important.
- Facilitation Skills: the candidate will facilitate meetings and working sessions and must have strong facilitation skills, to ensure meetings achieve planned goals and all voices are included in the process.
- Time and Priority Management: Managing multiple tasks and priorities is essential. The candidate must ensure projects stay on track and stay within budget. Experience and ability to manage, track, drive and deliver many project efforts simultaneously is important.
- Leadership / Followership skills: the ideal candidate will bring strong project leadership experience and the interest and ability to learn how projects are managed and delivered at Nationwide where our processes may differ from the candidate’s previous experience. This role will function as part of a team including Business and Technology roles and the candidate must be comfortable functioning as a core component of this integrated team.
- Analytical Abilities: The candidate should be adept at problem-solving and decision-making. Analyzing project data, identifying trends, and making informed choices are crucial.

As a Delivery Leader you’ll be responsible for delivering value and outcomes. Delivery leaders are expected to have an end-to-end vantage point on delivery, manage dependencies, remove blockers, engage partners, manage financials, maximize vendor relationships, and enable an iterative delivery of value. You will need to keep pace with software delivery and organizational change methods and tools. Delivery leaders should also understand relevant Financial and Agile/Lean/DevOps tools and techniques.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Drives the End to End delivery of expected business outcomes, realization of benefits as outlined in the business case, drives incremental value, drives incremental planning, and drives dependency scope definition.
- Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
- Responsible for the communication, critical issues, visibility, change management guidance to deliver business outcomes.
- Key contributor in the facilitation of contract negotiations, statement of work development and vendor oversight toward expected goals.
- Drives the prioritization of deliverables, handles moderate to complex issues/risks, governs dependencies.
- Is responsible for the delivery of status/health reports to drive value delivery tracking (ex: KPIs), optimizes the flow of value and ensures demand/capacity is handled.
- Works with medium to large project/product financials.
- Serves as a professional to others around delivering business outcomes, benefit realization, agile delivery, and Lean.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Delivery Leader or Business Solution Area Executive.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies (bachelor’s degree preferred) in management information systems, engineering, math, computer science, data analytics or comparable experience and education strongly preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: Technology certifications or PMI, SAFE, Agile or Lean designations are encouraged.
Experience: Six or more years of experience in technology or related field. Three years demonstrated proficiency in delivering outcomes/projects. Awareness of emerging technologies and/or industry trends.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Ability to make decisions and recommendations. Aptitude to influence, establish relationships and set priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of associates, senior management and/or vendors. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

The national salary range for Consultant, Delivery Leader : $118,000.00-$222,000.00
The expected starting salary range for Consultant, Delivery Leader : $118,000.00 - $178,000.00
