Are you passionate about compensation and rewards? Do you thrive on analyzing data and creating innovative solutions? EPCOR is hiring a Compensation Specialist in Edmonton for a fulltime, permanent role.
In this position, you’ll design, implement, and administer EPCOR’s compensation programs across Canada and the U.S. You’ll lead projects, analyze market data, build costing models to support bargaining and board activities, and manage the full cycle of our expatriation program. Your expertise will shape EPCOR’s Total Rewards strategy and ensure we attract and retain top talent.
What you’d be responsible for
This position is accountable to the Senior Manager of Compensation & Analytics and is responsible for:
- Providing insights and recommendations to support EPCOR’s compensation strategy.
- Leading survey participation, market research, and competitive analysis to align programs with EPCOR’s compensation philosophy.
- Developing costing models and supporting collective bargaining mandates.
- Administering annual merit and incentive programs, ensuring system readiness, award calculation accuracy and policy compliance.
- Managing expatriation, repatriation, and relocation programs for crossborder mobility.
- Conducting job evaluations, audits, and maintaining equity across EPCOR’s frameworks.
- Maintaining and updating compensation job databases for Canada and the U.S.
- Partnering with HR teams to advise on compensation issues, policies, and training.
- Supporting policy and program development, revising practices to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Contributing to process improvements and innovative Total Rewards initiatives.
- Collaborating with HR teams and business units to deliver seamless compensation solutions.
- Preparing reports, analytics, and presentations that highlight trends and inform leadership decisions.
Requirements
What’s required to be successful
- University degree (HR, Business, or related field); diploma plus equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of experience in Total Rewards, including market pricing, pay structures, incentive plans, job evaluation, and labor costing.
- HR Generalist experience and/or Compensation Certification is an asset.
- Strong understanding of Total Rewards as part of the employee value proposition.
- Knowledge of process improvement and change management.
- Advanced MS Office skills (Excel formulas, pivot tables, macros; Access; PowerPoint)
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to interpret data and present insights clearly.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, confidential, team-oriented environment.
