For over 100 years, YMCA Camp Cormorant has offered spirit, tradition, leadership, and exceptional facilities to campers. Founded in 1903, Camp Cormorant is one of the oldest overnight camps in the entire nation. The camp is nestled on 80 acres of wooded property with an extensive beachfront on Big Cormorant Lake. We are located approximately six miles south of Lake Park, MN, in the heart of Minnesota lakes country. No day at camp is just a typical day. Under the direction of the Camp Coordinator and Food Program Director, this position is responsible for completing food orders, preparing and serving healthy meals to staff and campers, and maintaining an organized, sanitary kitchen.
- Ensures that the American Camping Association (ACA) standards are followed
- Cleans and cares for the kitchen and dining hall
- Prepares menu and the daily or weekly supply lists
- Brings in deliveries and maintains inventory
- Maintains a daily count report for all meals served
- Keeps required records of food delivery and consumption
- Meets and maintains appropriate health standards
- Follows established work schedule
- Completes the CACFP (Child Care Food Program) requirements
- Cleans, organizes, and stores all equipment prior to the weekends and the end of the season
Requirements
2026 Camp Dates: May 31, 2026 - August 14, 2026, with the week of the 4th of July off. Must be available for the duration of the summer camp season. This position is live-in during the camp season, but we would consider a live-out position for local candidates. Pay for this position is $516 per week. Room and board included.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
1. At least 21 years of age
2. 1 year of cooking experience
3. 6 months experience working with youth
4. CPR/First Aid Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant
6. Current driver’s license and YMCA insurance approved driving record
7. ServSafe/MN Kitchen Manager Certification
