For over 100 years, YMCA Camp Cormorant has offered spirit, tradition, leadership, and exceptional facilities to campers. Founded in 1903, Camp Cormorant is one of the oldest overnight camps in the entire nation. The camp is nestled on 80 acres of wooded property with an extensive beachfront on Big Cormorant Lake. We are located approximately six miles south of Lake Park, MN, in the heart of Minnesota lakes country. No day at camp is just a typical day. The Camp Assistant Cook assists the Camp Head Cook in ordering, preparing, and serving healthy meals to the staff and campers.
- Ensures that that American Camping Association (ACA) standards are followed
- Assists the Head Cook in the operation of the kitchen
- Assists in the planning and execution of special events and Cooking Camp
- Supervises meals and special events in the absence of the Head Cook
- Works with the Counselors in Training (CITs) in washing dishes and serving snacks
- Meets the appropriate health standards and regulations
- Assists with cleaning the dining hall and bathrooms attached to the dining hall
- Ensures laundry facilities are kept organized
- Assists in Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) paperwork
Requirements
2026 Camp Dates: May 31, 2026 - August 14, 2026, with the week of the 4th of July off. Must be available for the duration of the summer camp season. This position is live-in during the camp season, but we would consider a live-out position for local candidates. Pay for this position is $433 per week. Room and board included.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
1. At least 18 years old
2. 6 months experience working with youth
3. CPR/First Aid for Adult, Child, and Infant
4. Current driver’s license and YMCA insurance approved driving record
