Description

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will play a crucial role in maintaining the pristine conditions of an 18-hole golf course, clubhouse, driving range, and practice area. Working closely with the Director of Agronomy, the ideal candidate will possess the skills and experience necessary to independently manage the day-to-day operations of the golf course maintenance. Responsibilities will include overseeing maintenance tasks, managing a team of grounds crew workers, implementing turf maintenance programs, and ensuring the overall health and appearance of the golf course. The Assistant Superintendent will assist in scheduling and coordinating maintenance activities, monitoring irrigation systems, and performing equipment maintenance. This position offers a unique opportunity for growth, with the potential for advancement into a Superintendent role. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for environmental stewardship. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with the team and engaging with golfers and members. A degree in turfgrass management, horticulture, or a related field is preferred, along with relevant experience in golf course maintenance. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent must be knowledgeable about turfgrass species, irrigation systems, fertilizers, and pest control methods to ensure the course remains in top condition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in turf management, agronomy, horticulture, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of turfgrass species, irrigation systems, and golf course agronomy practices.
• Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
• Valid driver's license and pesticide applicator's license (or ability to obtain).
• Knowledge of proper use of fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, and soil conditioners.
• Understanding and interpreting soil and tissue reports

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
