JOB POSTING / ASSISTANT PROSECUTOR

Summary: The City of Lancaster Law Director & City Prosecutor’s Office is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Prosecutor. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: appearing before the Fairfield County Municipal Court to prosecute traffic and criminal cases, appearing before the Fifth District Court of Appeals to brief and argue appeals, providing timely and competent legal advice to law enforcement and city officials, and performing legal research as assigned by supervising attorneys. This is an entry level position with a full municipal government benefits package. The City of Lancaster is an equal opportunity employer.
Hours: 7:45 am – 4:15 pm, Monday – Friday
Salary: Depending on qualifications $78,343.20/annually – $88,581.60/annually with annual step increases until maxed out and annual COLA adjustments thereafter.
Qualifications: Applicant must be a licensed Ohio attorney in good standing or awaiting February bar exam results. Criminal law and courtroom experience are preferred but not required.
Knowledge and Skills: Applicant should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Westlaw, and Zoom.
Job Responsibilities: Primary assignment will be prosecuting adult misdemeanor traffic and criminal offenses and providing legal advice to local law enforcement and city officials. Applicant must be amenable to adjusting job duties and/or practice areas as required to meet the operational needs of the office. This is a full-time position, and no private practice is permitted.
